How to check if a Reddit post was removed

A Reddit post can disappear for most readers while it still looks fine to the person who posted it. Moderators remove posts that break a community's rules, Reddit's filters hold back others, and authors delete their own. This guide shows how to check a single post by hand, why the author's account is a poor judge, and how to check a whole list of posts in one run with Queber's post check.

What "removed" can mean on Reddit

  • Removed by moderators. The post breaks a community rule. Reddit shows a notice on the post page instead of its content, often naming who removed it.
  • Held back by Reddit's filters. The post never reaches the community feed. We have seen such posts still look live to their author while another account saw them as removed.
  • Deleted by the author. The account took the post down itself.
  • Not found. The link leads nowhere, for example because the address is wrong or the post no longer exists.

Removal messages are worth keeping word for word. They often name the rule or say whether moderators or Reddit acted, and that tells you what to fix in the next post.

Check one post by hand

  1. 1

Open the link from another account

Use a browser where you are logged out, or a profile logged in to a different Reddit account. You then see the post the way other readers see it.

  2. 2

    Read the post page

A notice in place of the content means the post was removed. Copy its text before you close the page.

  3. 3

    Look at the community feed

Sort the community by New and look for the post around the time it was published. A post that the page still shows but the feed does not deserves a second look.

  4. 4

    Compare with the author's view

Open the same link in the author's account. The author sees numbers others do not, such as views, but may see a filtered post as if nothing happened.

For one post this takes a minute. For thirty posts across ten accounts it takes a morning, and that is where a post check helps.

Check a list of posts with Queber's post check

The post check is a Queber automation that opens each link in a browser profile, one after another, with a human pause between them, and reads what the page shows. It never calls Reddit's API.

  1. 1

    Paste the links

Open Automation, choose Reddit, then Post check, and paste the links, one per line. Full post links, old.reddit links, redd.it short links, posts on user profiles and share links all work. Lines that are not post links are flagged before the check starts.

  2. 2

    Choose the profile

Pick the browser profile that should open the posts. Which one to use is explained below.

  3. 3

    Decide on comments

Turn on comments to read the comments under each post as well: 100 per post by default, up to 500, in the sort order Reddit offers.

  4. 4

    Run now or schedule

A check is a job like any other. Schedule it for the morning after a posting day, and the results wait in the Queue.

A link that cannot be read gets its own failed row, and the check moves on to the next one. Your plan sets how many links one run can take, as shown on the plans page.

What the check reads for each post

ValueWhat you get
StateLive, removed, not found or failed. A removed post keeps Reddit's removal message exactly as written.
ScoreThe score shown on the post page.
Upvote ratioThe share of upvotes, whenever Reddit shows it.
CommentsThe number of comments, and with comments turned on, the comments themselves with author, text, replies and edit time.
ViewsFor the author's own live posts only, rounded the way Reddit shows them, for example 5.2K.
Author insightsFor the author's own live posts, shares, reposts and the countries with the most views, from Reddit's stats page of the post.

When Reddit does not show a value, the result names it and gives the reason, such as "only the author sees views", instead of a silent zero. If Reddit hides a post until the account confirms it is over 18, the result says so. Queber never presses that confirmation for you, because it changes the account's settings.

Which profile should run the check

The answer depends on what you want to know.

  • Is the post visible to others? Check with a profile that did not publish it. That profile sees what readers see, including removals the author may not see.
  • How is the post doing? Check with the author's profile. Only the author gets views, shares, reposts and top countries. Each check by the author adds one view on Reddit.

Many teams run both: a morning check with a spare profile for the state of every post, and a weekly check with the author profiles for the numbers.

Where the results go

  • The job panel in the Queue shows a row per post, with comments folded under each one.
  • Copy JSON copies the whole result, comments included, for a script, a spreadsheet or Notion. Results leave Queber as JSON.
  • With Telegram connected, the report lists up to 10 links and attaches a JSON file with every result for longer checks and checks with comments.
  • Through the REST API or MCP, your own tool can create checks and read the results from the job.

From a removed post you can go straight to the next step: fix the post and publish it again in a community that welcomes it, or reply to the moderators by hand. To answer new comments, start a Comment from the original post in the Queue, or paste the post link on the Auto Comment screen.

Questions about checking Reddit posts

How do I know if my Reddit post was removed?

Open the post from an account that did not publish it, or while logged out. A notice in place of the content means it was removed. Queber's post check does the same for a whole list and keeps the notice text.

Why does my post look fine to me but not to others?

Reddit shows the author more than other readers. We have seen posts held back by Reddit's filters still look live to their author while another account saw them as removed. Check with a second account to be sure.

Can I check many Reddit posts at once?

Yes. Paste the links into a post check, one per line, and Queber opens them one after another in the profile you choose. Your plan sets how many links fit in one run.

Why are views empty for some posts?

Reddit shows views only to the author of a post that is still up. Check with the profile that published the post to get them.

Can I export the results to CSV?

Queber exports results as JSON. Copy them from the job panel, receive them as a file in Telegram, or read them through the API, then turn them into a table in your own tool if you need one.
